Today marks the launch of our most comprehensive Android App yet, built from the ground-up for a mobile first experience. PhoneBunch for Android works great whether you have a smartphone with a small display or a giant tablet. The user experience would be similar across devices as well as Android versions.
We have also incorporated automatic caching to enable faster access to recent and popular content. Since this app has been designed keeping in mind mobile devices, it automatically scales content based on the device you are using for an optimal viewing experience.
The app has been designed to provide easier access to all content on PhoneBunch. If you swipe from the left, the navigation page lets you switch between various sections
- News
- Videos
- Compare Phones
- Manufacturers
- Deals
- Ask Us
This coupled with universal search makes finding content across news, phone specs as well as videos super fast and easy. We didn’t just stop there, our readers will also get notifications on news, videos as well as upcoming deals so they don’t miss out on any content.
We have also baked in deep-linking from search, which would directly open all links to content on the App instead of the desktop or mobile website for a more tailored experience.
To help our readers get their queries answered we have also built a native chat system which allows our readers to connect with us directly. It would allow our users to send their questions in real time and get notified when a reply is available so that they don’t have to wait for a response. This feature would only be available to subscribed users. But that’s not all, paid subscriptions in the form of an in-app purchase also remove ads from the app and videos. Subscribed users will also get prior access to some featured content, articles and tutorials. Subscriptions would later be extended to our desktop website as well to enrich user experience but there won’t ever be a paywall.
Moreover, you will find more granularly curated content on the PhoneBunch app which surfaces most relevant as well as popular content. Being the first version of the app, we will continue working on it’s features and add more based on what we learn from our users. The next step in the evolution of the app would be to provide contextual as well as natural language search. We are looking at the app as a completely separate platform which would augment both our desktop and mobile websites. The mobile website will continue to be offered to mobile users who don’t want to download the app.
